Kick Off a Great Fall Season at the Fryeburg Fair!
Today was a crisp, sunny autumn day here in Maine, and what better way to spend it than checking out the Fryeburg Fair? It's been going strong since 1857, and is Maine's largest agricultural fair, according to U.S. News & World Report. From livestock to crafts to concerts, the fair has something for everyone. As for me, I'm all about the food. My first stop is always the specialty foods building, where food artisans have a tempting variety of items (and lots of scrumptious samples!). Maine Man Flavahs, Wozz Kitchen Creations, and Bavarian Chocolate Haus have booths there, just to name a few. "The Guts" relish by Maine Man Flavahs gives you a sweet burst of blueberry, followed by habanero heat that sneaks up on you. Wozz's savory spreads are a fabulous way to jazz things up in the kitchen. For a sweet treat, try the dark chocolate morsels from Bavarian Chocolate Haus. Believe it or not, I did save room for lunch. Beale Street BBQ is serving up tender, juicy pulled pork sandwiches on a soft white roll. The fair is running from Oct. 1-8 in Fryeburg Maine, so you still have plenty of time to stop by!
