Step Back in Time at The Old Country Store and Museum
With autumn coming to an end and days growing chilly, I like to find a cozy place to escape the cold. A quaint general store fits the bill perfectly, and I know a great one to visit. According to the New England Historical Society, The Old Country Store in Moultonborough, New Hampshire has been providing warm, friendly service since 1781, making it one of the oldest general stores in the United States. In previous lives, the store has functioned as a meeting hall, a post office, and a town library, among other things. Step through the door of this historic can’t-miss yellow building and you step back in time to a simpler era, where the general store was the hub of a town’s activity, and carried everything from tempting penny candies to paper products. You’ll find all of that here, plus scrumptious specialty food products and plenty of unique souvenirs for tourists. If you’re not in the area, you can still get a taste of times past by placing an order for your favorite nostalgic treat. It will ship to you promptly!
In New England, we value the history of our region. If we have anything to say about it, The Old Country Store will continue to remind us of the way life used to be.
