Yarmouth Clam Festival-Going Strong since 1965

Yarmouth Clam Festival

Summertime in Maine is steeped in tradition, and one of my favorites is the Yarmouth Clam Festival. Every year beginning on the third Friday in July, Yarmouth takes time out to celebrate their wonderful community and raise funds to help support Yarmouth-based non-profit organizations. With parades, live music, craft booths, and road races among the many fun activities to choose from, the festival offers something for everyone who visits. Of course, I'll make a beeline straight to the food area, where over 6,000 pounds of clams will be sold (mostly to me!) The Maine State Clam-Shucking contest and Firefighters' Muster provide great entertainment as well.
Admission is free, and public transportation makes it convenient to get there using either the Amtrak Downeaster or Concord Coach Line. If you're traveling by car, the shuttle leaving from the Garmin parking lot is your best bet. Whatever method you use, come on out, have a wonderful time, and support some worthwhile causes while doing it.
