Restaurant founder Joseph Barbara and co-owner Anthony Siniscalchi have been serving up award-winning food in Seal Beach, California for over 20 years. Their Italian dishes are inspired by the meals they enjoyed growing up in Brooklyn, where grandmas really know how to cook and everyone loves to eat.
Start off with crunchy, tender fried calamari, which comes with two dipping sauces: marinara sauce and a honey mustard garlic aioli. Yum to both.
Let me tell you, their perfectly seasoned sausage and peppers can’t be beat. The sweet Italian sausage has a fantastic fennel flavor and just the right hint of spiciness, and it’s sauteed with sweet roasted red peppers, onions, and some mild green chilies. Definitely my favorite dish to have here.
Eggplant parmigiana at Finbars is also a winner. It features layers of eggplant and cheese (mozzarella, Parmesan, and Pecorino Romano), baked in tomato sauce until it’s oozing with deliciousness. If you choose, it can also be served with penne in marinara sauce.
If West Coast dishes are more your style, Finbars serves food with a definite California vibe, such as their BBQ chicken pizza. There are vegetarian and gluten-free options offered as well.
